Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a one-year contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, becoming the first European player to join the team in their history.
The 36-year-old Portuguese forward, who is currently on loan at Manchester United from Juventus, will play for the club until the end of next season.
Ronaldo, who previously played for Real Madrid and Manchester United, has been training with the club since Monday and was expected to make his debut against Al-Hilal's local rivals Al-Shabab on Wednesday.
He also revealed that he had spoken to Al-Hilal's president, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud Al-Faisal,Bundesliga Tracking before signing the contract.
"The decision to join Al-Hilal was easy," Ronaldo said in a statement released by the club. "I am very excited to be joining such a great club and I can't wait to start playing for them."
Al-Hilal have already made it clear that they want Ronaldo to be a key player for the club, with manager Adel Amiri saying that he would be a "star" for the team.
The news comes after Ronaldo announced earlier this month that he would retire from international football following Portugal's Euro 2021 campaign.
However, he has yet to decide whether or not he will continue his career in Europe, with reports suggesting that he may look to return to his native country of Portugal or elsewhere in Asia.
Regardless of where his future lies, Ronaldo's move to Al Hilal is sure to attract attention from fans and media alike.
